A birth certificate for your child will be filed by an attendant at birth.
You will need to have an official birth certificate in order to obtain a passport. If it is time sensitive, you will need to have the birth certificate expedited. You can visit www.scdhec.gov  for birth certificate information.

Both parents and child will need to go to the passport office with the birth certificate. The passport office at the US Post Office - Airport Location is recommended, as they will also take the necessary pictures. Go to www.travel.state.gov/passport for passport information.
